Napoli Beat Cremonese 4–0, Sending Them Into Serie A Relegation Zone
Napoli secured a comfortable 4–0 victory over US Cremonese on Friday, a result that pushed Cremonese into the Serie A relegation zone.
Napoli made a strong start, taking an early lead within three minutes when Scott McTominay scored from a Kevin De Bruyne assist. It marked De Bruyne’s first assist in Serie A since joining from Manchester City last summer.
The home side doubled their advantage after a deflected effort from Rasmus Højlund resulted in an own goal. Just before halftime, De Bruyne added a third goal with a close-range finish inside a crowded penalty area.
In the second half, Alisson Santos completed the scoring with a solo effort, ensuring a dominant win for Napoli.
Cremonese had a chance to reduce the deficit late in the match, but their penalty attempt was saved, denying them a consolation goal.
The defeat leaves US Cremonese in the relegation zone, level on points with Lecce but behind on goal difference. Their survival hopes now depend on upcoming results in the final stages of the season.
Napoli, meanwhile, moved further up the Serie A table, strengthening their position in the race near the top of the standings, while leaders Inter Milan continue to hold first place.
