Pakistan’s Muhammad Ashab Irfan Advances at PSA World Championships
Pakistan’s emerging squash player Muhammad Ashab Irfan delivered an impressive performance at the PSA World Championships by securing a straight-games victory in the opening round.
World No. 48 Ashab defeated Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller 3-0 with game scores of 13-11, 11-9, and 11-0 to progress to the next stage of the tournament.
The opening game was closely contested, with both players competing strongly for crucial points. Ashab maintained his composure in the final moments to claim the game 13-11.
The second game also remained competitive, but the Pakistani player continued to show confidence and consistency, eventually winning 11-9.
After building momentum, Ashab dominated the third game completely and secured an emphatic 11-0 victory to complete the match in straight games.
The win marks another important achievement in Ashab’s growing international squash career and secures his place in the next round of the prestigious event.
Pakistan’s top-ranked squash player Noor Zaman also made a successful start to his campaign at the championship.
Ranked World No. 28, Noor defeated Egypt’s Adam Hawal in a competitive five-game match with scores of 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 9-11, and 11-8 to reach the last 32.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Asim Khan exited the tournament after facing Wales’ Joel Makin in the opening round.
