GB Election Commission Orders Halt on Result Consolidation Pending Re-Polling
The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission has directed that the consolidation of election results from the June 7 polls be withheld until re-polling is completed in five constituencies.
According to an official circular issued on June 8, returning officers have been instructed not to finalize or announce results until all re-polling processes are concluded and included in the final count.
Constituencies Affected by Re-Polling
Re-polling has been ordered in multiple constituencies, including:
- Skardu-II (GBA-8)
- Astore-I (GBA-13)
- Diamer-I (GBA-15)
- Diamer-II (GBA-16)
- Diamer-III (GBA-17)
The Election Commission emphasized that results will only be finalized after incorporating votes from the re-polled stations.
Instructions to Returning Officers
The commission has directed returning officers not to open, scrutinize, or count postal ballots, and to avoid issuing final constituency results until the re-polling process is fully completed.
Officials said this step is necessary to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
Details of Re-Polling Schedule
According to the Chief Election Commissioner, re-polling will take place on June 15 across 26 polling stations in the affected constituencies. These include:
- 10 polling stations in Skardu-II
- 1 in Astore-I
- 1 in Diamer-I
- 3 in Diamer-II
- 11 in Diamer-III
Ongoing Election Updates
Earlier, the commission also ordered recounts in two additional constituencies following requests from candidates who raised concerns over vote counting.
Unofficial results so far indicate that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is leading with 11 out of 24 seats in the Legislative Assembly.
