Iran Announces Multi-City Funeral Rites for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Iran has announced a schedule for the funeral and burial ceremonies of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with events planned across several cities from July 4 to July 9.
According to the official programme, the public farewell will begin in Tehran, where the body will lie in state at the Tehran Mosalla from July 4 to July 5, allowing citizens to pay their respects.
A major funeral procession and official ceremony are scheduled to take place in Tehran on July 6, followed by additional religious rites in the holy city of Qom on July 7.
The final burial ceremony is set to be held in Mashhad on July 9, Khamenei’s hometown, where he will be laid to rest.
Authorities say the multi-day events will include religious gatherings and public participation in multiple cities as part of the formal farewell process.
The arrangements reflect the traditional state and religious protocols observed for senior political and religious figures in the country.
