Egypt Secures Historic First FIFA World Cup Victory with 3-1 Win Over New Zealand

Egypt celebrated a historic milestone by earning their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory after defeating New Zealand 3-1 in a Group G match on Sunday in Vancouver.

The win moved Egypt to the top of the group standings with four points, strengthening their chances of advancing to the knockout stage for the first time in the tournament’s history.

New Zealand took an early lead in the 15th minute when Finn Surman scored with a powerful header. Egypt responded before halftime as Mostafa Zico found the net to level the score following a well-placed cross from Mohamed Hany.

Star forward Mohamed Salah put Egypt ahead in the second half after combining effectively with Zico before finishing with a precise left-footed strike in the 67th minute.

Egypt later extended their advantage when Salah provided an assist for substitute Trezeguet, who sealed the victory with a close-range header.

Speaking after the match, Salah described the result as a memorable achievement for Egyptian football and thanked the large number of supporters who attended the game.

The result leaves Egypt in a strong position ahead of their final group-stage match against Iran in Seattle. A draw would be enough to secure qualification for the knockout rounds.

In the other Group G fixture, Belgium and Iran played out a goalless draw. Belgium will face New Zealand in their next match as the battle for qualification continues.
