MIAMI — The Miami Heat have strengthened their roster by acquiring star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks in a major trade agreement, according to reports on Monday.
The deal brings the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player and 10-time All-Star to Miami as the franchise looks to enhance its championship ambitions.
According to details of the reported agreement, the Heat will receive Giannis Antetokounmpo and veteran forward Bobby Portis. In return, Milwaukee is set to acquire Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware and Kasparas Jakucionis, along with multiple future draft assets.
The reported package also includes the No. 13 overall selection in the upcoming NBA Draft, a first-round pick swap in 2030, first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, and a second-round selection in 2033.
Antetokounmpo spent his entire NBA career with Milwaukee prior to the move and played a key role in leading the Bucks to the 2021 NBA Championship. He has earned numerous accolades throughout his career, including multiple MVP awards, All-NBA selections and All-Star appearances.
The trade marks a significant roster change for both organizations. Miami adds one of the league’s most accomplished players, while Milwaukee receives a combination of established talent, young prospects and future draft capital as it reshapes its roster.
