The preliminary phase of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2026 concluded with several players delivering standout individual performances across key statistical categories.
Bulgaria’s Aleksandar Nikolov emerged as one of the competition’s top performers, finishing first in both scoring and attacking, while players from France, Japan, Ukraine, Argentina, and Canada also topped individual rankings.
Aleksandar Nikolov Finishes as Top Scorer
Bulgarian outside hitter Aleksandar Nikolov led all players with 278 points during the preliminary stage.
His impressive total included points from attacks, service aces, and blocks, helping Bulgaria remain competitive throughout the tournament. Nikolov also recorded a season-high 32-point performance against the United States.
Best Attacker of the Tournament
Nikolov also finished first among attackers, recording 247 successful spikes with an attack success rate of 54 percent.
His consistent offensive performances made him one of the most effective players during the opening phase of the competition.
Jackson Howe Tops Blocking Statistics
Canadian middle blocker Jackson Howe led the blocking rankings with 45 successful blocks.
Despite Canada’s challenging campaign, Howe consistently contributed at the net and ranked among the tournament’s strongest defensive performers.
Ran Takahashi and Dmytro Yanchuk Share Serving Lead
Japan’s Ran Takahashi and Ukraine’s Dmytro Yanchuk finished as the tournament’s top servers, each recording 21 service aces.

Argentina’s experienced libero Franco Massimino topped the digging category with 112 successful digs, highlighting his defensive consistency throughout the tournament.
