NAB Seals Properties During Investigation Into Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has sealed multiple residential and commercial properties as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities related to the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project.
According to officials, the operation was carried out with the assistance of district authorities at a housing scheme where some of the properties were reportedly constructed on land designated for public amenities.
Investigation Into Property Transactions
NAB said the investigation is examining allegations that certain individuals associated with the resettlement project, along with other parties, were involved in the preparation and sale of unauthorized plot documents.
Officials allege that these transactions generated unlawful financial gains. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations have not been adjudicated in court.
Properties and Land Under Review
According to NAB, investigators are also reviewing the purchase of approximately 25 acres of land in Thatta district, where a housing scheme was later developed.
The bureau is examining whether the land transactions were connected to the alleged financial irregularities linked to the resettlement project.
Earlier Notice by NAB
In an earlier public notice, NAB stated that some plots originally allocated to families displaced by the Lyari Expressway project, as well as certain plots reserved for public welfare purposes, were allegedly transferred or sold in violation of applicable rules.
The bureau has advised affected individuals to cooperate with the investigation where required.
About the Resettlement Project
The Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project was launched to provide housing and relocation assistance to families displaced during the construction of the Lyari Expressway.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing, and further action will be taken in accordance with the findings and applicable legal procedures.
