Pakistan Clinch CAVA Volleyball Championship with Dominant Victory Over Bangladesh

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan capped off an outstanding campaign by defeating Bangladesh in straight sets to win the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Volleyball Championship at the Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The national team remained unbeaten throughout the six-nation tournament, delivering a flawless performance to secure the championship title. Kazakhstan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan also participated in the competition.
Pakistan displayed impressive teamwork, strong serving, disciplined blocking, and effective defense to stay in control throughout the final. The hosts claimed the opening set 25-20, followed it with a convincing 25-16 victory in the second set, and completed the sweep by winning the third set 25-20.
The title victory marked a perfect tournament for Pakistan, as the team won all seven of its matches without dropping a single set.
The success also boosted Pakistan’s position in the FIVB World Rankings, moving the team up eight places to 38th in the world and sixth in Asia.
In the third-place playoff, Sri Lanka defeated Uzbekistan in a closely contested five-set match to secure the bronze medal. Kazakhstan finished fifth, while Nepal ended the tournament in sixth place.
Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob congratulated the players, coaching staff, and officials on the historic achievement, describing the victory as a reflection of the team’s dedication, discipline, and hard work.
He also appreciated the support of the Central Asian Volleyball Association, participating teams, sponsors, government institutions, volunteers, media, and fans for contributing to the successful organization of the championship.
PVF President Sohail Khawar Mir praised the team’s remarkable performance, highlighting that winning the tournament without losing a single set demonstrated the players’ exceptional preparation and commitment.
He also congratulated Bangladesh and the other participating teams for helping make the championship highly competitive and said the event further strengthened volleyball in the Central Asian region while showcasing Pakistan’s ability to successfully host international sporting events.
