FBR Auctions Bahria Town Property in Murree to Recover Tax Dues

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has successfully auctioned a 527 kanal and 10 marla property owned by Bahria Town in Murree as part of its efforts to recover outstanding tax liabilities, according to sources.

The land is located in Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road, Tehsil Murree, District Rawalpindi. The auction was conducted under the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 and the Income Tax Rules, 2002.

Auction Conducted to Recover Outstanding Taxes

According to available information, the auction relates to an outstanding tax liability of approximately Rs. 26.47 billion.

The property had been offered for public auction after previous recovery efforts did not result in the settlement of the outstanding amount.

New Buyer Secures Highest Bid

Sources said the highest bid in the latest auction was submitted by a Pakistani businessman. The identity of the successful bidder has not been officially disclosed.

An earlier auction process had identified a different highest bidder, but the transaction was not completed, leading the FBR to re-advertise and conduct a fresh auction.

Part of Tax Recovery Efforts

Officials said the successful auction represents an important step in the FBR’s ongoing efforts to recover unpaid tax liabilities through the sale of eligible immovable properties in accordance with applicable tax laws.

The FBR has not yet released further details regarding the final transaction or the transfer process.
