Former US President Barack Obama has revealed his personal “Mount Rushmore” of women’s sports, selecting four athletes he considers among the greatest female competitors of all time.

The list includes swimming superstar Katie Ledecky, legendary gymnast Simone Biles, tennis icon Serena Williams, and basketball champion Cheryl Miller.

The term “Mount Rushmore” is commonly used to describe a group of four outstanding figures in a particular field, inspired by the famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, which features giant carvings of four US presidents.

While discussing his selections, Obama praised Katie Ledecky’s remarkable achievements in swimming. Ledecky has won multiple Olympic medals, including nine gold medals, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest swimmers in history.

Obama also highlighted Simone Biles’ extraordinary career, calling attention to her status as the most decorated gymnast in history. Biles has won seven Olympic gold medals and is considered by many as one of the greatest athletes in gymnastics history.

The former president’s list also featured Serena Williams, a four-time Olympic gold medallist and one of the most successful tennis players ever, along with Cheryl Miller, an Olympic basketball champion from the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

Obama’s choices sparked discussion among sports fans, highlighting the incredible achievements and lasting impact of some of the most influential women athletes in the world.
