Pakistan Remain Eighth in Test Rankings After England Defeat

Pakistan have remained eighth in the ICC Test team rankings following their heavy defeat to England in the opening match of their three-Test series.
Pakistan currently have 1,427 ranking points, while Bangladesh have moved up three places to a best-ever sixth position after an impressive tour of Australia.
Pakistan Suffer Heavy Defeat at Headingley
Pakistan lost the first Test against England by an innings and 103 runs at Headingley on Friday.
After conceding a first-innings lead of 238 runs, Pakistan were dismissed for 135 in their second innings, giving England a convincing victory.
The result has also affected Pakistan’s position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings.
Pakistan are now at the bottom of the WTC table with a points percentage of 19.05. They have won two of their seven matches and suffered five defeats.
Bangladesh Reach Career-Best Ranking
Bangladesh have climbed to sixth place, their best-ever position in the ICC Test rankings.
Their rise followed a historic series in Australia that ended 1-1. Bangladesh also recorded their first Test victory on Australian soil after defeating Australia by nine wickets in the opening match of the series.
The result pushed both Pakistan and Sri Lanka down in the rankings, with Sri Lanka now seventh.
Australia Continue to Lead Test Rankings
Australia remain at the top of the ICC Test rankings, followed by South Africa and New Zealand.
India are fourth, while England occupy fifth position after their victory over Pakistan.
The latest rankings highlight the growing competition among Test-playing nations, with Bangladesh making significant progress and Pakistan looking to improve their results in the remaining matches of the England series.
Australia Lead World Test Championship
Australia are also leading the WTC 2025-27 standings after winning eight of their 10 Tests.
They have collected 96 points with a points percentage of 80.00. Defending champions South Africa are second after winning three of their four matches, with 36 points and a points percentage of 75.00.
Pakistan will now look to bounce back in the remaining Tests against England and improve their position in the World Test Championship standings.
