Stuart Broad Backs Babar Azam to Return for Second Test Against England

Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad believes Babar Azam should return to Pakistan’s playing XI for the second Test against England at Lord’s.
Broad said Pakistan’s batting appeared vulnerable without Babar during the opening Test at Headingley, where England secured a convincing victory by an innings and 103 runs.
Babar missed the first Test after sustaining a finger injury during Pakistan’s three-day practice match against the PCC Select XI in Beckenham.
Broad Wants Babar Back
Speaking on a podcast with former England captain Jos Buttler, Broad highlighted Babar’s experience and importance to Pakistan’s batting lineup.
The former pacer said he expects Babar to return for the Lord’s Test if he is fit enough to play.
According to Broad, Pakistan need their experienced batter after struggling to build strong partnerships in the opening match of the series.
Babar’s Appearance Created Brief Confusion
Broad also recalled a memorable moment before the Headingley Test.
Although Babar had already been ruled out because of his bruised hand, he appeared near the team area wearing Pakistan’s full Test kit shortly before the toss.
His appearance briefly led to speculation that he might have recovered in time to play.
Broad explained that Babar was actually attending a captain’s photograph with the Test trophy rather than preparing to take part in the match.
The former England bowler also shared a light-hearted exchange he had with Babar before realizing he would not be playing.
Pakistan Look to Bounce Back at Lord’s
Pakistan will now turn their attention to the second Test at Lord’s, where they will look to respond after a difficult opening match.
Babar’s availability will be an important factor for Pakistan as the team seeks greater stability in its batting lineup.
If declared fit by the team management and medical staff, his return could provide Pakistan with additional experience ahead of the crucial second Test.
