Pakistan Explores Robotics and AI Partnerships with Chinese Companies
Pakistan is exploring potential partnerships with Chinese robotics companies following participation in the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC 2026) in Beijing.
Pakistani technology representatives, researchers and trade delegates attended the event and held discussions with Chinese companies on robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and digital transformation.
Potential cooperation in these areas could also support the objectives of CPEC Phase II, which places greater emphasis on industrial development, technology adoption and digital innovation.
More Than 3,000 Robotics Products Showcased
WRC 2026 was held from August 19 to 23 at the Beiren Etrong International Exhibition and Convention Center in Beijing E-Town.
The conference featured 373 exhibitors and around 3,000 robotics products, including 311 products making their debut.
Exhibitors presented technologies covering a wide range of applications, including humanoid robots, industrial automation, artificial intelligence systems and robotic components.
Robotics solutions for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, emergency response and other industries were also demonstrated.
The conference was held under the theme “Human-Robot Symbiosis, Production-Demand Convergence.”
Around 30 international organizations supported the event, while international participants accounted for approximately 30% of attendees at the main forum.
China Expands Practical Use of Robotics
A key focus of this year’s conference was the wider use of robotics in commercial and industrial environments.
The exhibition featured robotic systems for manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, elderly care and emergency services.
Humanoid robots and embodied AI were also among the major areas showcased. These technologies combine artificial intelligence with physical robotic systems that can interact with their surroundings.
The event also featured the World Robot Expo and World Robot Contest, along with more than 60 activities related to robotics.
Opportunities for Pakistan Under CPEC Phase II
Greater cooperation with Chinese robotics companies could provide Pakistan with opportunities to introduce automation and smart manufacturing technologies into local industries.
Potential areas of cooperation include industrial robots, automated production systems, AI-based manufacturing and other digital technologies.
These sectors are broadly aligned with the goals of CPEC Phase II, particularly its focus on industrial development, technology transfer and emerging industries.
Pakistani representatives used the conference to engage with Chinese companies and explore possible technology partnerships as China’s robotics industry continues to expand.
Beijing E-Town Emerges as Robotics Hub
Beijing E-Town has developed into an important centre for robotics and intelligent manufacturing in China.
The area brings together robotics manufacturers, component suppliers, AI developers and industrial users, creating opportunities for collaboration across the technology sector.
Pakistan’s participation in WRC 2026 could therefore help broaden bilateral technology cooperation beyond traditional infrastructure projects and create new opportunities in robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing.
