Mohammad Rizwan Seeks Answers From NCCIA Over Mobile Phone and Inquiry

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has submitted a written response to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), seeking clarification about why he was summoned and why his mobile phone has not yet been returned.
According to reports, Rizwan sent his response to the agency through courier and asked officials to explain the reasons behind the inquiry.
Rizwan Questions NCCIA Summons
In his written response, Rizwan reportedly asked the NCCIA to clarify why he had been called and what specific matter was being investigated.
He also sought information about any alleged disciplinary violation and questioned the basis for requiring him to appear before the agency.
The development comes as the NCCIA continues examining allegations involving Pakistan’s Test squad and possible leaks of information from the team’s dressing room.
Mobile Phones Under Investigation
Rizwan and fellow Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq are reportedly being questioned in connection with the alleged leaks during Pakistan’s ongoing Test series against England.
The investigation reportedly includes examination of data obtained from their mobile phones.
Reports indicate that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) initially took custody of the players’ phones before handing them over to the relevant authorities for further examination.
Rizwan has now sought clarification over why his phone remains with the authorities and when it will be returned.
PCB Took Action After England Test Defeats
The inquiry follows a difficult start to Pakistan’s Test campaign against England, with the national team suffering heavy defeats in the first two matches.
Following the loss at Lord’s, the PCB announced several changes to the squad and coaching setup.
Seven players were released from the squad, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also relieved of their responsibilities.
PCB Previously Sought Selection Committee Explanation
The latest development comes after the PCB also sought a written explanation from a member of its selection committee regarding the selection of Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq for Pakistan’s 2026 Test tours of the West Indies and England.
According to a PCB notice dated August 31, the committee member had participated in a selection meeting on June 2 and had been given responsibility for considering players for the two tours.
The notice reportedly stated that Rizwan and Imam were included on the shortlist based on the committee member’s recommendation.
The NCCIA inquiry and the PCB’s internal proceedings remain separate developments, with the authorities continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the reported dressing-room leaks and player selections.
