Government Clarifies Fake Notification Claiming Three Weekly Holidays

The Government of Pakistan has clarified that a notification circulating on social media about three weekly holidays for government offices is fake.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s official fact-checking account on X rejected the document and advised citizens not to believe or share the misleading information.

The clarification comes after the alleged notification began circulating online and attracted attention among government employees and the general public.

Fake Document Claims Four-Day Workweek

The fabricated notification claims that government offices would operate only from Monday to Thursday, while Friday, Saturday and Sunday would be declared weekly holidays.

The document is dated September 16, 2026, and appears to carry the letterhead of the Cabinet Division, giving it the appearance of an official government communication.

However, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has confirmed that the document is not genuine.

Ministry Advises Public to Check Official Sources

The ministry urged citizens to avoid forwarding or sharing unverified notifications on social media.

It advised the public to rely on official government platforms and authorized channels for information regarding working days, public holidays and other administrative decisions.

No Official Change in Working Days

The clarification means that the viral document should not be treated as an official announcement regarding government office schedules.

Citizens and government employees are advised to verify any notification about changes in working hours or holidays through official government sources before taking action.

The government’s fact-checking response aims to prevent confusion caused by the circulation of the fabricated notification online.
