India Women Face Bangladesh in Asian Games 2026 Cricket Semi-Final

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

The India women’s cricket team will take on Bangladesh in the semi-final of the Asian Games 2026 women’s cricket tournament at Korogi Sports Park on Sunday.

The match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM IST, with live streaming and television coverage available for viewers in India.

India enter the semi-final as the defending Asian Games champions after securing a comfortable victory over hosts Japan in the quarter-final.

India Reach Semi-Finals

India booked their place in the last four with an eight-wicket win over Japan on Friday.

Shree Charani and Shafali Verma played important roles in India’s successful chase as the defending champions advanced to the semi-finals.

India will now meet Bangladesh for a place in the gold-medal match.

Bangladesh Advance After Washed-Out Quarter-Final

Bangladesh reached the semi-finals without playing a full quarter-final against the People’s Republic of China.

Their quarter-final was washed out, with Bangladesh progressing because they held the higher position in the relevant ICC rankings.

The semi-final also brings back memories of the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, where India defeated Bangladesh in the semi-finals before going on to win the women’s cricket gold medal.

India Hold Strong T20I Record Against Bangladesh

India have dominated their recent T20I meetings with Bangladesh.

The Indian team is currently on a nine-match winning streak against Bangladesh in the format, with the run beginning with their semi-final victory at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.

Overall, India have won 22 of their 25 T20I meetings with Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s most recent victory over India came in 2023.

The teams also met earlier this month in the Asia Cup semi-final, where India recorded a 40-run victory.

Mandhana Nears T20I Scoring Record

India opener Smriti Mandhana will have another personal milestone in sight during the semi-final.

The left-handed batter needs only nine runs to move past New Zealand’s Suzie Bates as the highest run-scorer in women’s T20I cricket.

Mandhana’s potential record will add another point of interest to Sunday’s semi-final.
