Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate three major road projects in the coming months as work on the schemes nears completion, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said during a review meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA).

The projects include the Lodhran-Multan Expressway, Peshawar Northern Bypass and expansion of the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad Motorway.

According to the minister, construction work on these projects is expected to be completed in the coming months, after which the prime minister will formally inaugurate them.

Progress on Major Highway Projects

The NHA meeting reviewed progress on ongoing and proposed development projects, revenue generation, road safety, development programmes and financial matters.

Abdul Aleem Khan said construction work on the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway was progressing rapidly.

He also said work had started on the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Pakistan Expressway (N-25), which is among the major road infrastructure projects being developed in the country.

During the meeting, the communications minister directed the NHA to take immediate steps to improve the condition of the Lahore-Gujranwala GT Road.

He instructed officials to provide better facilities and relief to commuters using the route.

Officials also briefed the meeting about funding arrangements for the M-6 Motorway, projects under the Public Sector Development Programme and other NHA schemes being carried out across the country.

The government is continuing work on several major highway projects aimed at improving road connectivity, transportation and travel facilities in different parts of Pakistan.
