Police Action Disrupts Sohail Afridi’s Planned Meeting in Swabi

Police conducted raids in several areas of Swabi on Sunday to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers ahead of a planned public meeting by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Sohail Afridi in Shewa Adda, Razaar tehsil.

Afridi was scheduled to arrive in Shewa Adda on Sunday evening and address party workers. However, the planned gathering could not take place amid the reported imposition of governor’s rule and an emergency in the province.

According to sources, some PTI leaders had urged party workers to assemble at the Razaar Sports Complex in Shewa Adda for the meeting.

Police action reportedly began after governor’s rule and the emergency were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Law enforcement personnel also increased patrols in Shewa Adda and nearby areas to prevent a possible gathering of PTI supporters.

Meanwhile, a large number of police officers were deployed at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk in Swabi’s district headquarters to respond to any potential protest by PTI workers.

Police personnel were also stationed along the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway as part of the security arrangements.

The developments came amid heightened security measures in the province, with authorities taking steps to prevent political gatherings and possible demonstrations.
