World Rugby Confirms HSBC SVNS 2 Schedule for 2027 Season

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

World Rugby has confirmed the schedule for the 2027 HSBC SVNS 2 series, with Nairobi, Montevideo and São Paulo set to host three international rugby sevens tournaments in January and February.

The series will begin in Nairobi, Kenya, on January 23-24 at Talanta Sports Stadium. The competition will then move to Montevideo, Uruguay, for matches on February 20-21 at Estadio Charrua, before concluding in São Paulo, Brazil, on February 27-28 at Nicolau Alayon Stadium.

All three cities return as hosts after staging events during the inaugural HSBC SVNS 2 competition in 2026. Their continued involvement reflects World Rugby’s efforts to expand the reach of international rugby sevens and engage supporters in different regions.

HSBC SVNS 2 is a key part of World Rugby’s international sevens structure, offering men’s and women’s teams an opportunity to progress towards the sport’s top-level competitions. The three-tier system links regional qualification with HSBC SVNS 3, HSBC SVNS 2 and the HSBC SVNS World Championship.

World Rugby Sevens World Series General Manager Sam Pinder welcomed the return of the three host cities, highlighting the series’ role in creating a competitive pathway for teams seeking to reach the World Championship.

He also noted that the approaching Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games would make each stage of the international pathway increasingly important for participating teams.

The 2027 HSBC SVNS 2 series will therefore provide another significant opportunity for teams to strengthen their positions in international rugby sevens as preparations for LA28 continue.
