Bangladesh and India Working to Reschedule Delayed Cricket Series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are continuing discussions to find a suitable date for their delayed white-ball cricket series, according to BCB President Tamim Iqbal.
The series was originally scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in August 2025 and was supposed to include three ODIs and three T20 matches. However, the fixtures were postponed amid strained relations between the two countries.
Cricket Boards Discuss New Schedule
Tamim Iqbal said both cricket boards remain committed to finding a suitable window for the series.
Speaking during a podcast interview, the BCB president said officials from both sides were considering different scheduling options to determine when the matches could be played.
He described the discussions as positive and said both boards were making efforts to find a workable solution.
The BCCI had previously indicated that the series could be played in September, but an official schedule has not yet been confirmed.
Series Postponed Amid Political Tensions
The cricket schedule has been affected by broader political developments between Bangladesh and India.
Relations between the two countries became more complicated following political changes in Bangladesh in 2024. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country and travelled to India after her government was removed from power.
The political situation has also affected sporting relations between the neighbouring countries.
In February, Bangladesh decided not to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup, citing security concerns.
Last Bilateral Series
India last toured Bangladesh for a bilateral cricket series in 2022.
Bangladesh subsequently travelled to India in September and October 2024.
The proposed six-match white-ball series would provide another opportunity for the two teams to resume regular bilateral cricket, subject to agreement on dates and other arrangements.
For now, both boards are expected to continue discussions before announcing a revised schedule.
