Dengue Cases in Rawalpindi Rise to Seven This Season
Rawalpindi has reported another dengue case, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the city to seven during the current season.
According to health authorities, a patient from Dhama Syedan was taken to Holy Family Hospital and shifted to the facility’s dengue ward for treatment.
Health officials said two dengue cases have been reported in Rawalpindi during September. Four cases were recorded in July, while another case was detected in March.
Dengue Situation Under Monitoring
District Health Officer Preventive Dr Jawad Zahid said the dengue situation in Rawalpindi remains under control compared with the previous year.
According to the health department, 582 dengue patients were reported in the city last year, while the current season has so far recorded seven cases.
Authorities have intensified surveillance activities across the city as part of the ongoing anti-dengue campaign.
1,400 Teams Conduct Surveillance
Around 1,400 teams have been deployed for indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance in Rawalpindi.
Health officials said mosquito larvae have been detected in several areas, with higher numbers reported from parts of Rawalpindi Cantonment, including Misrial Road, Afshan Colony and Allama Iqbal Colony.
Other areas where larvae were detected include Naseerabad, Morgah, Dhama Syedan, Pirwadhai, Dhamyal, Hazara Colony, Pindora, Dhoke Mangtal, Dhoke Ratta and Chak Jalaldin.
Officials said larvae were found at more than 145,572 locations in homes and open areas during the current anti-dengue campaign. These breeding sites were subsequently eliminated.
Action Taken Over Dengue SOP Violations
The district administration has also taken action against violations of dengue-related safety guidelines.
According to health authorities:
- 2,543 FIRs have been registered.
- 652 buildings have been sealed.
- 2,119 challans have been issued.
- Fines totaling Rs. 2.568 million have been imposed.
Officials said additional field staff have been deployed to strengthen surveillance and eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Citizens Urged to Prevent Stagnant Water
Health authorities have urged residents to keep their homes, rooftops and surrounding areas clean and ensure that stagnant water does not collect.
Residents are also advised to regularly check containers, rooftops, water tanks and other places where water can accumulate, as such areas can provide suitable conditions for mosquito breeding.
Officials said early identification and removal of dengue breeding sites can help reduce the risk of further transmission during the current season.
