Diljit Dosanjh Pays Tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan at London Concert

Indian Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh paid tribute to legendary Pakistani qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan during his recent concert at Wembley Stadium in London.

The tribute came as part of Dosanjh’s Aura World Tour, where he performed the iconic song Sanso Ki Maala in honor of the late qawwali maestro.

Diljit Praises Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Dosanjh opened his London show with his popular phrase, “The Punjabis have arrived,” before turning the performance into a celebration of Punjabi musical heritage.

Speaking about his decision to perform Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s song, Dosanjh expressed deep admiration for the legendary artist.

He said that Nusrat was an exceptional musician and acknowledged that performing his songs is a difficult task because of the unique vocal style and musical depth associated with the qawwal.

Dosanjh explained that his performance was an attempt to show his respect and appreciation for Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, whom he described as a legend.

A Tribute Driven by Admiration

The singer also acknowledged the challenges of performing Nusrat’s music and apologised for any shortcomings in his rendition.

He said the performance was motivated by his personal admiration for the legendary Pakistani singer rather than an attempt to replicate his distinctive style.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan remains one of the most influential figures in South Asian music. His work helped introduce qawwali to audiences around the world and continues to influence singers across generations.

Diljit’s Cross-Border Punjabi Connections

This is not the first time Diljit Dosanjh has featured Pakistani talent during his international performances.

The singer previously shared the stage with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir during a London concert. The two later worked together in the Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, marking another notable collaboration between artists from India and Pakistan.
