The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina attracted a record television audience in the United States, making it one of the most-watched soccer matches in the country’s history.
According to broadcast figures released on Tuesday, millions of viewers tuned in to watch Spain secure a 1-0 victory over Argentina after extra time, capping off a memorable tournament.
Record-Breaking Viewership
Fox Sports reported that its English-language broadcast of the final attracted 38.9 million viewers, with peak viewership reaching 51.7 million during the match.
The network said it was the most-watched English-language soccer broadcast in U.S. history.
Meanwhile, Telemundo’s Spanish-language coverage reached an estimated 22.6 million viewers, bringing the combined U.S. audience to more than 60 million.

Fox Sports reported an average audience of 7.74 million viewers per match across its platforms, a significant increase compared with previous FIFA World Cups.
Football stars including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland also helped maintain global interest, while packed stadiums and competitive matches contributed to the tournament’s overall success.
