Hockey Revival: Hockey Sticks Distributed Among Clubs in District Kemari

Karachi Efforts to revive and promote the national sport of hockey continue in the city as the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) has intensified its activities across different districts.

Following the directives of KHA President Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, a formal ceremony was held in which hockey sticks were distributed among various hockey clubs in District Kemari. The equipment was handed over to Member of the Sindh Assembly Faheem Pithani from Baldia Town to help improve opportunities for young players and encourage participation in the sport.

According to details, a delegation of the Karachi Hockey Association, led by Senior Vice President Latif Hussain Shah, visited different clubs in Baldia Town and met with MPA Faheem Pithani.

The delegation included Pakistan Under-18 Hockey Team Head Coach Olympian Qamar Ibrahim, Pakistan Junior Hockey Team Coach Olympian Sameer Hussain, District Secretary Shahid Nazir, and several other officials including Waliat Ali, Shahid Khan, Asad Javaid, Izhar Hussain Shah, Bilal Khan, Aqeel, Khalid Nazir, Azmat Pasha, Syed Aal Hassan, and others.

During the visit, the delegation also conveyed a special message from KHA President Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, who stated that the revival and strengthening of club hockey across all districts of Karachi is his top priority.

He emphasized that a strong club-level system is essential for the development of hockey, saying that without strengthening club hockey, the overall structure of the sport cannot be stabilized. He added that the Karachi Hockey Association is taking practical steps at every level to promote the game.

The delegation announced that an inter-club hockey tournament will soon be organized in Baldia Town. In the next phase, hockey sticks will also be distributed in various schools of District Kemari to attract the younger generation towards the national sport.

On the occasion, Faheem Pithani thanked the Karachi Hockey Association and Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, calling the initiative a commendable effort for the promotion of hockey. He said that the availability of a modern astro-turf facility in Baldia Town would provide new hope for young players, and athletes from the area would represent not only Karachi but also Pakistan in the future.
