Hungary Beat Great Britain 5-0 at Ice Hockey World Championship
The Great Britain men’s national ice hockey team suffered a 5-0 defeat against Hungary men’s national ice hockey team in their third match of the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland.
Hungary took early control of the game at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich, scoring twice in the opening stages through Krisztian Nagy and Doman Szongoth.
Istvan Terbocs added a third goal with a short-handed breakaway early in the second period, prompting Great Britain to replace goalkeeper Ben Bowns with Mat Robson.
Despite efforts from Liam Kirk, Josh Waller, and Cade Neilson, Great Britain were unable to break through Hungary’s defence, with goalkeeper Bence Balizs producing a solid performance.
Terbocs later scored his second goal on a two-on-one counterattack before Nagy added his second to complete the 5-0 scoreline.
The result leaves Great Britain still searching for their first win in the tournament. They will next face hosts Switzerland men’s national ice hockey team on Thursday.
