Indian Actor and Comedian Mushtaq Khan Dies at 75

Veteran Indian actor and comedian Mushtaq Khan has died at the age of 75, leaving behind a long career spanning more than four decades.

According to Indian media reports, Khan had been battling cancer and was receiving treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. His son, Mohsin, confirmed that the actor died on Thursday.

Khan began his acting career with the 1980 film Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai? and went on to appear in more than 500 films during his career.

He featured in several popular movies, including Hera Pheri, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

However, he became particularly popular among a younger generation for his role as Ballu in the 2007 comedy film Welcome. He played a loyal associate of Uday Shetty, the character portrayed by Nana Patekar.

Khan’s distinctive comic timing and understated delivery made the character memorable, with several scenes from the movie later becoming popular on social media.

Tributes poured in from colleagues in the Indian film industry following his death. Actor Sunny Deol expressed condolences to Khan’s family and remembered him as a kind person and talented actor.

Actor Rajpal Yadav also paid tribute to Khan, saying that he had met him only a few hours before his death and was deeply saddened by the news.

Mushtaq Khan’s death marks the loss of a veteran performer whose work remained familiar to audiences across generations.
