Inter Milan Come From Behind to Beat Udinese 5-3 in Serie A

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

Inter Milan maintained their perfect start to the 2026-27 Serie A season after recovering from a two-goal deficit to defeat Udinese 5-3 at San Siro on Monday.

The defending champions now have four wins from four league matches and remain level on points with AS Roma, who also recorded their fourth consecutive victory.

Both Inter and Roma have collected 12 points, setting up an early-season top-of-the-table clash between the two sides.

Udinese Take Early Two-Goal Lead

Udinese stunned Inter by scoring twice during the opening 16 minutes.

James Abankwah opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a header after being left unmarked inside the area.

Jurgen Ekkelenkamp then doubled Udinese’s advantage seven minutes later with a close-range finish.

Inter responded before halftime. Carlos Augusto reduced the deficit with a long-range effort that found the bottom corner before Nicolo Barella equalised 10 minutes before the break.

Inter Complete the Comeback

Inter took control of the match after halftime and completed their comeback in the 59th minute.

Marcus Thuram put the hosts ahead after finishing from inside the penalty area following Andy Diouf’s cutback from the byline.

Francesco Esposito then extended Inter’s advantage before Ange-Yoan Bonny added a fifth goal with 11 minutes remaining.

Udinese scored again in stoppage time through Idrissa Gueye, but the late goal was not enough to change the result.

Inter secured a 5-3 victory and remained unbeaten after four league matches.

Roma Also Maintain Perfect Record

AS Roma kept pace with Inter by defeating Torino 2-0 away from home.

Donyell Malen opened the scoring five minutes before halftime after taking advantage of a misplaced pass from Torino goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

Niccolo Pisilli sealed the victory in stoppage time with a finish from an angle after Gianluca Mancini kept the ball in play near the byline.

Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini highlighted the attacking partnership between Malen and Paulo Dybala after the match.

Inter vs Roma Set for Saturday

The two sides will meet on Saturday with both teams entering the fixture on four wins from four matches.

Roma coach Gasperini described the match as an opportunity to test his team against the reigning champions.

The early Serie A standings make the fixture particularly important, with Inter and Roma both sitting on 12 points.

Como Move Into Third

Como continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 home victory over Parma.

Jacobo Ramon and Kaiki Bruno scored for Cesc Fabregas’s side, which now has 10 points from its opening four league matches.

The result came shortly after Como’s impressive Champions League debut victory against RB Leipzig.

Fabregas said the latest win was important as he continues to assess the potential of his squad.
