Islamabad Police Denies Plans to Establish Punjab-Style CCD Unit

Islamabad Police Denies Plans to Establish Punjab-Style CCD Unit

Islamabad Police has rejected reports suggesting that a Crime Control Department (CCD) unit, similar to the one operating in Punjab, is being established in the federal capital.

A police spokesperson described the reports as baseless and unverified, clarifying that there are no plans to create a new CCD-style wing within Islamabad Police.

According to the spokesperson, the capital’s police force already has specialised units responsible for different policing and investigative duties. These departments handle functions including counter-terrorism and criminal investigations.

The clarification comes as Islamabad Police continues to focus on improving its existing security and law enforcement arrangements. These efforts include surveillance, patrolling and action against criminal activities across different areas of the capital.

Reports about the proposed unit had circulated on social media, prompting questions about whether Islamabad Police intended to adopt a structure similar to Punjab’s Crime Control Department.

Police officials have urged citizens and social media users to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely on official statements for updates regarding law enforcement initiatives.

The spokesperson reiterated that Islamabad Police is continuing to perform its duties through its existing departmental structure, dismissing speculation about the establishment of a separate CCD-style unit.
