Japan Retains Top Spot in Women’s Baseball Rankings as Philippines Make Major Rise

Japan, the United States and Canada have retained the top three positions in the latest WBSC/SHARP Women’s Baseball World Rankings, while the Philippines made the biggest jump following an impressive debut at the 2026 Women’s Baseball World Cup.
Japan remains firmly at No. 1 with 2,075 ranking points. The United States follows in second place with 1,428 points, while Canada holds third position with 1,365 points.
Philippines Make 10-Place Jump
The Philippines recorded the biggest improvement in the latest rankings, climbing 10 places to No. 11.
The rise follows the team’s historic first appearance at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Tainan. The Philippines finished the tournament’s group stage with a 2-3 record and secured notable victories over Cuba and Great Britain.
The strong World Cup debut earned the Philippines 264 additional ranking points, taking their overall tally to 516 points and returning them to their previous best ranking of No. 11.
Changes in the Top 10
Several other teams also improved their positions following the latest international competitions.
Venezuela moved up one place to No. 4, while Chinese Taipei climbed to No. 5.
Australia recorded a three-place rise to No. 7, while Korea made the biggest improvement among the teams in the top 10, moving up four positions to No. 8.
Further down the rankings, China gained three places to reach No. 16.
Japan and USA Add Ranking Points
Japan and the United States each collected 510 points after finishing first in their respective World Cup group stages in Tainan and Rockford.
Canada also strengthened its position in third place after earning 346 points from the World Cup group stage and another 264 points from the WBSC Americas playoff series against Puerto Rico.
The latest WBSC/SHARP Women’s Baseball World Ranking includes 28 national teams from five Olympic continents, reflecting the growing international reach of women’s baseball.
Japan continues to lead the standings as the sport’s dominant team, having won the Women’s Baseball World Cup seven consecutive times.
