Joe Root Confident of Regaining Form After England’s Test Series Win Over Pakistan

England captain Joe Root remains confident that he can overcome his recent run of low scores despite being dismissed lbw in both innings of the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s.
The experienced batter has been dismissed leg before wicket nine times in his last 12 Test innings. However, Root believes his long international career and record provide him with the experience needed to work through difficult periods.
Root Relies on Experience to Overcome Lean Patch
Root is England’s leading Test run-scorer with 14,208 runs, placing him second on the all-time Test batting list behind India’s Sachin Tendulkar.
The 35-year-old has scored more than 50 only twice during England’s home summer, but he said he has faced similar challenges throughout his career.
Root explained that he has regularly found ways to identify and correct problems in his batting and believes the current situation is no different.
His comments came after England completed a Test series victory over Pakistan at Lord’s.
Root Scores Four and 24 at Lord’s
Root had a difficult second Test with the bat, scoring four runs in the first innings and 24 in the second before being dismissed lbw on both occasions.
Despite his individual struggles, England secured a convincing victory to take an unassailable lead in the three-match series.
Root’s focus now will be on identifying the technical issues affecting his batting and returning to his usual consistency.
England Captain Calls for Responsible Celebrations
The second Test also came after attention had been focused on an incident involving England fast bowler Brydon Carse.
Carse was left out of the squad following an investigation into an incident outside a nightclub in Derby.
Root said he had spoken to the England players about the matter and reminded the squad that victories should be celebrated responsibly.
He acknowledged the difficulty of winning Test matches and series but urged his teammates to enjoy their achievements while maintaining professionalism.
England will now look to carry their momentum into the final Test against Pakistan.
