Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif inaugurated the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Flyover in Sialkot on Saturday. The one-kilometer-long project, located in the Adalat Garha area, has been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.984 billion.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Punjab Labour Minister Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt, MPA Chaudhry Faisal Ikram, Deputy Commissioner Owais Mushtaq, and other government officials.

Flyover to Improve Traffic Flow

Speaking at the event, Khawaja Asif said the new flyover is expected to reduce traffic congestion and make daily travel easier for residents of Sialkot and surrounding areas. He described the project as an important step toward improving the city’s road infrastructure and thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for supporting its completion.

Sialkot Ring Road Project to Begin Soon

The defence minister also announced that work on the first phase of the Sialkot Ring Road is expected to begin soon.

According to him, the Ring Road will connect several major routes, including:

  • Wazirabad Road
  • Daska Road
  • Eminabad Road
  • Pasrur Road

The project is expected to improve traffic movement across the city and strengthen connectivity between key areas.

Better Access to Airport and Industrial Areas

Khawaja Asif said the newly inaugurated flyover will eventually connect with the upcoming Ring Road, helping improve access to Sialkot International Airport and supporting the city’s industrial and commercial activities.

Kharian-Rawat Motorway Update

During the ceremony, the minister also shared that the Rs. 250 billion Kharian-Rawat Motorway project has been awarded to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). He said the motorway is expected to improve regional connectivity and support future economic development.

The government says these infrastructure projects are part of broader efforts to enhance transportation facilities and improve road networks across Punjab.
