More Than 117,000 Malaria Cases Reported in Sindh This Year

KARACHI: More than 117,000 malaria cases have been reported across Sindh during the first nine months of 2026, according to data from the provincial Health Department.

Official figures showed that 117,016 cases were recorded between January 1 and September 29. During the same period, health authorities screened more than 1.9 million people for malaria across the province.

Hyderabad Division reported the highest number of cases, with 46,183 infections recorded during the period.

Larkana Division had the second-highest number with 33,785 cases, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad with 13,005, Sukkur with 12,058 and Mirpurkhas with 10,898 cases.

Karachi Division reported 1,087 malaria cases during the same period, according to the Health Department’s data.

Officials said that no case of cerebral malaria had been reported in Sindh so far this year.

Health authorities are continuing screening and surveillance activities across the province to monitor the spread of malaria and identify cases in affected areas.

The department’s ongoing monitoring is aimed at keeping track of the situation and supporting timely detection and management of malaria cases across Sindh.
