No Pakistani University Enters Top 350 in QS World University Rankings

Pakistan has once again failed to secure a place in the top 350 of the QS World University Rankings, as the country’s leading universities experienced mixed performance in the latest global assessment.

According to the newly released rankings, Quaid-i-Azam University, which was previously ranked 354th, has dropped to 381st position. Similarly, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) declined from 371st to 384th place.

Despite this setback, a total of 18 Pakistani universities were included in the global rankings, which evaluated 1,504 institutions worldwide.

Some universities showed improvement in their global standing. The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) made notable progress, moving up from 721st to 560th position. COMSATS University Islamabad also improved its ranking, rising from 664th to 639th, while the University of Agriculture Faisalabad advanced from 654th to 629th.

However, several major institutions saw a decline. The University of the Punjab slipped from 542nd to 588th place, while the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) moved down from 555th to 608th.

From Sindh, only the University of Karachi managed to secure a place in the rankings. No university from Balochistan was included in the latest QS World University Rankings.

The report highlights both progress and ongoing challenges for Pakistan’s higher education sector in maintaining competitiveness at the global level.
