Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

England: Pakistan faced another challenging day in the ongoing Test series against England, setting several unwanted records during the third and final match at Edgbaston.

Having already surrendered the series after defeats in the opening two Tests, Pakistan struggled against England’s pace attack featuring Josh Tongue, Jofra Archer and Ollie Robinson.

Pakistan Bowled Out for 133

Pakistan were dismissed for just 133 runs in 33.5 overs, allowing England to take a commanding position in the match.

England then produced an impressive batting display, with Emilio Gay, Harry Brook, Dan Lawrence, Jamie Smith and Ollie Robinson all reaching half-centuries.

The hosts eventually finished their first innings on 453 runs in 89 overs, giving England a huge 320-run lead over Pakistan.

The lead is now England’s fifth-largest first-innings advantage against Pakistan in Test cricket.

England’s Biggest First-Innings Leads Against Pakistan

Rank Lead Venue Year
1 401 runs Trent Bridge 1954
2 391 runs Old Trafford 2016
3 372 runs Lord’s 2010
4 342 runs Old Trafford 2006

England’s largest first-innings lead against Pakistan remains the 401-run advantage recorded at Trent Bridge in 1954.

Robinson Creates Batting Milestone

Ollie Robinson also reached a notable milestone during England’s innings.

Coming in at No. 9, Robinson became the first England batter to score a Test half-century at No. 9 or lower against Pakistan since Stuart Broad’s 169 at Lord’s in 2010.

Robinson arrived at the crease when England were 331 for 7 and played an aggressive innings to extend his team’s advantage.

He reached his half-century from just 47 deliveries, hitting seven fours and one six in the process.

Third Test Continues Until September 13

The third and final Test between Pakistan and England at Edgbaston is scheduled to continue until September 13.
