Pakistan to Upgrade Air Traffic Management Systems at Lahore and Karachi Airports
Pakistan has launched a Rs. 10 billion project to modernize air traffic management infrastructure at two of the country’s major airports in Lahore and Karachi.
Under the initiative, advanced air traffic management and voice communication systems will be installed at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, and Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.
Air Traffic Control Centers to Be Upgraded
The project will also include modernization of the air traffic control centers at both airports.
The upgrades are intended to bring the facilities in line with modern operational requirements and improve the technology available to air traffic controllers.
In addition to the new air traffic management systems, dedicated voice communication and control systems will also be installed at the two airports.
Bidding Process Underway
Sources said the technical evaluation phase for the project has already been completed.
The financial bids submitted by companies that successfully meet the technical requirements will be opened during the next stage of the procurement process.
The completion of the bidding process will pave the way for the installation of the new systems at both airports.
Part of Wider Aviation Modernization
The Rs. 10 billion initiative is part of the Pakistan Airports Authority’s broader efforts to modernize the country’s air traffic management infrastructure.
Upgrading air traffic control technology at Lahore and Karachi airports is expected to strengthen the systems used to manage aircraft movements and support more modern aviation operations.
The project represents a significant investment in Pakistan’s airport infrastructure as authorities continue efforts to improve and update facilities at major airports across the country.
