Punjab Extends Outdoor Drone Ban for Another 30 Days
LAHORE: The Punjab government has extended its ban on outdoor drone flights across the province for another 30 days under Section 144, citing security and public safety concerns.
According to the Punjab Home Department, the restriction applies to outdoor drone operations throughout the province. However, limited use of small drones may be allowed at events held inside halls and marquees, subject to safety requirements.
The department said event organisers would be responsible for ensuring that drones are operated safely during permitted indoor events.
Intelligence and law enforcement agencies will remain exempt from the restriction, according to the notification.
The government has also established district-level Safe Drone Usage Committees to oversee and regulate certain drone operations.
Written permission may be granted for drone flights related to agriculture, irrigation and research activities. Flights approved in writing by the relevant committee will not fall under the general ban.
The notification was issued by the Punjab Home Department under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. District administrations and police have been directed to ensure implementation of the orders.
The Punjab government said the measures are aimed at maintaining law and order, protecting public and private property, and addressing security concerns across the province.
