Punjab Government Begins Preparations for Basant Lahore 2027

The Punjab government has started preparations for Basant Lahore 2027, with plans to organize the three-day festival as a large-scale event featuring international-standard arrangements.

Officials reviewed preparations during a meeting chaired by Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Additional Director Rao Tasleem Akhtar. The meeting focused on arrangements for decorating Lahore and improving the overall appearance of major roads and public areas ahead of the festival.

Authorities have also started the process for issuing manufacturing licenses for kites and kite strings. The early start is aimed at ensuring adequate supplies are available before the celebrations begin.

Representatives of kite flyers welcomed the decision, saying that timely issuance of licenses could help prevent shortages experienced during the previous festival. Kite flyers’ leader Khawaja Nadeem Wain said manufacturers would require at least four months to produce sufficient quantities of kites and strings.

The representatives also emphasized the need for effective safety arrangements, particularly to protect children during the festival.

Basant Lahore 2027 Dates Announced

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had earlier announced that Basant Lahore 2027 will be held from March 12 to March 14.

She said the dates were finalized following the successful Basant celebrations in 2026 and invited people from across Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis, and international visitors to participate in the festival.

The Punjab government is now working on arrangements well in advance, including city decorations, kite and string production, licensing, and safety measures, to ensure a smooth and well-organized Basant celebration in Lahore.
