Rain Threatens Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20I Series in Rawalpindi

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

The remaining two matches of the T20I series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka could face weather-related interruptions as rain is forecast across parts of Pakistan from October 10 to 15.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s forecast covers both upcoming fixtures, scheduled for October 11 and 13 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The possibility of rainfall has raised concerns among cricket fans, although it remains uncertain whether the weather will affect either match.

Pakistan currently lead the three-match series 1-0 after securing a four-wicket victory in the opening T20I on Friday.

Pakistan Take Early Lead in Series

Pakistan made a winning start to the series by chasing down Sri Lanka’s total of 182 in the first match, reaching their target with seven balls remaining.

Captain Sahibzada Farhan led the chase with an impressive 89 runs, while Maaz Sadaqat provided valuable support with a quick half-century.

The result put Pakistan in a strong position ahead of the second T20I, with the hosts now aiming to secure the series before the final match.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back and level the contest to keep their hopes of winning the series alive.

Second and Third T20Is Scheduled for October 11 and 13

The second match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 11, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The third and final T20I will follow on October 13 at the same venue.

With rain forecast during the period covering both matches, interruptions remain a possibility. However, the broader weather outlook does not confirm that either fixture will be abandoned.

The impact will depend on the timing and intensity of any rainfall at the stadium, as well as the conditions during match hours.

Weather Could Influence Series Outcome

Pakistan will aim to maintain their momentum and wrap up the series in the second T20I, while Sri Lanka need a victory to force the contest into a deciding third match.

Any weather-related delays could affect both teams’ plans, particularly if reduced playing time changes the course of a match.

Cricket fans will be hoping for favourable conditions in Rawalpindi so that both remaining fixtures can be completed and the series can produce a clear result on the field.
