Razaullah Makes Impressive Pakistan Test Debut Against England

Pakistan’s young fast bowler Razaullah made an encouraging start to his international career after taking two important wickets on his Test debut against England at Edgbaston.
The 21-year-old right-arm pacer from Mardan caught attention with his pace and attacking approach, dismissing England captain Joe Root early in his innings. Razaullah also returned later in the day to remove opener Emilio Gay.
During his opening spell, the young bowler regularly reached speeds of around 89 to 92 miles per hour, giving Pakistan another promising pace option.
Razaullah’s selection for the Test squad came after Pakistan made several changes following heavy defeats in the opening matches of the series. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) brought in several replacements, with Razaullah among the uncapped players added to the squad.
Razaullah’s Rise in Domestic Cricket
Razaullah began making a name for himself in Pakistan’s domestic cricket system after representing Mardan in the district Under-19 competition in 2023. He later played regional youth cricket for Abbottabad.
His performances earned him a place with Sahir Associates in the President’s Trophy Grade II competition during the 2024-25 season. He helped his team win the tournament and secure promotion to the first-class competition.
He subsequently represented Peshawar as a guest player in the 2025-26 Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, where he also showed his ability with the bat by scoring a century and a half-century across two innings in one match.
His bowling performances in the 2025-26 President’s Trophy were particularly impressive. Razaullah claimed 30 wickets in five matches, putting him firmly on the radar of national selectors and coaches.
He was later picked by Rawalpindiz for the Pakistan Super League and attracted the attention of PCB high-performance director Aaqib Javed during a training session at the National Cricket Academy.
That led to his selection for a fast-bowling camp in August, where he was among 12 pacers invited to train.
A Promising Start for Pakistan
Razaullah was subsequently included in Pakistan’s Test squad and was handed his international debut at Edgbaston.
Although his two wickets could not immediately change the situation of the match, his performance provided Pakistan with an encouraging sign for the future.
Pakistan had been struggling for runs throughout the series and were dismissed for just 133 in their first innings at Edgbaston. England ended the opening day on 156 for 4, giving them a 23-run lead.
With experienced pacers Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali alongside him, Razaullah could become an important part of Pakistan’s bowling attack if he continues to develop.
His debut has already generated interest among Pakistan cricket fans, who will be hoping the young pacer can build on his impressive start and establish himself at the international level.
