Roger Federer to Return to US Open for Special Exhibition Event

Roger Federer is set to return to the US Open this year as part of a special exhibition event at the tournament in New York.

The event will take place on August 25 and is titled “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York,” according to the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

The exhibition will feature several tennis legends, including Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, and Andre Agassi, bringing together some of the sport’s most recognizable names for a showcase event ahead of the main draw.

Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, is closely associated with the US Open, where he achieved historic success by winning five consecutive titles from 2004 to 2008. He last competed at the tournament in 2019.

In a statement, Federer said New York holds a special place in his career, highlighting the memorable moments he experienced at Arthur Ashe Stadium and the strong support from fans over the years.

The exhibition will be held just days before Federer’s scheduled induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, which is set to take place on August 29 in Newport, Rhode Island.

The USTA has indicated that additional participants for the exhibition event may be announced in the coming weeks. The event will serve as part of the build-up to the start of the US Open singles competition.
