Security Forces Kill Three Militants in Balochistan’s Awaran District
Intelligence-Based Operation Conducted in Awaran
Security forces killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation in Badrang area of Awaran district, Balochistan, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Thursday.
According to security sources cited by the state broadcaster, the operation resulted in the recovery of a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition.
The individuals killed in the operation were described by the authorities as members of Fitna al-Hindustan, a term used by the Pakistani state for militant organisations operating in Balochistan.
Interior Minister Praises Security Forces
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for what he described as a successful operation conducted under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3.
According to state-run APP, Naqvi said the operation demonstrated the security forces’ ability and commitment to respond to security threats.
The interior minister said personnel deployed across Balochistan were continuing their duties with determination and that authorities remained focused on maintaining peace and countering militant activity.
He added that timely action had once again prevented militants from carrying out their plans.
Recent Increase in Attacks in Balochistan
The latest operation comes amid an increase in militant violence across Balochistan in recent weeks.
According to a monthly assessment by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the number of militant attacks in the province rose from 83 in July to 89 in August, representing a seven per cent increase.
Security forces have subsequently carried out several operations in different districts of the province.
Recent Counter-Terrorism Operations
On the night of August 31 and September 1, militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) carried out a coordinated attack on a Customs House near Ziarat Cross on the N-50 National Highway in Pishin district.
According to the military’s media wing, security forces killed 10 militants during the response, while six security personnel, including two officers, were killed.
In another operation on August 31, security forces killed 11 militants who had allegedly established an illegal checkpoint on the N-40 Quetta-Taftan Highway in the Nokcha area of Chagai.
Operations Continue Across the Province
On September 2, security forces reported killing 12 militants during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district.
Separate operations in Kharan and Washuk also resulted in the deaths of 11 militants, while authorities said around 2.9 tonnes of explosives were recovered.
The military’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on September 4 that 36 militants had been killed during multiple operations in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi.
Those operations also included an effort to prevent an attack on a police station in the Bhag area of Sibi.
Latest Operations in Mastung, Pishin and Qila Abdullah
On Monday, security forces and the Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department reported killing nine militants during two separate operations in Mastung, Pishin and Qila Abdullah districts.
The latest operation in Awaran adds to the series of counter-terrorism actions being conducted by security agencies across Balochistan amid continuing security concerns in the province.
