Two Christian Cricketers Killed in Shooting During Match in Mastung

Two young cricketers from Pakistan’s Christian community lost their lives after a shooting incident during a local cricket match in Mastung, Balochistan, on Thursday, according to police.

The incident occurred at a cricket ground in the Shams Abad area, about four kilometers from a Christian neighborhood in Mastung district, nearly 50 kilometers south of Quetta.

Police officials said that unidentified assailants arrived from a nearby village, opened fire on a group of local Christian players, and fled the scene.

Station House Officer Abdul Rauf of Mastung City Police Station confirmed that two players were killed in the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The victims were identified as 21-year-old Ayush Masih and 24-year-old Domnik Masih, both members of the local Christian community.

Police shifted the bodies to the district hospital for legal formalities.

Following the incident, family members and members of the Christian community staged a protest by blocking a nearby highway and demanding the arrest of those responsible.

Authorities have not yet announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
