Kirsten stresses need of same approach in Pakistan’s domestic, international cricket

FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Gary Kirsten, held a significant meeting with the mentors and head coaches of the Champions One-Day Cup teams, according to Geo News. The meeting, which took place in Faisalabad, focused on various key aspects of Pakistan cricket.

Sources revealed that the discussion centered on aligning domestic cricket with the demands of international success. Kirsten emphasized the importance of adopting the same style of play in domestic competitions that is required at the international level.

Also present at the meeting were High-Performance Coach David Reid and Director of High Performance, Nadeem Khan. Kirsten highlighted the value of collaboration, encouraging mentors and coaches to share knowledge and learn from each other’s experiences. He stressed the role of teamwork in achieving long-term success, stating, “Individuals can win matches, but series and titles are won through teamwork.”

Kirsten also spoke about the immense talent within Pakistan cricket, noting that only minor adjustments and skill improvements are needed to elevate players’ performances. He urged the coaching staff to use their experience to enhance player development and discussed plans to further strengthen Pakistan cricket.

Sources confirmed that Kirsten will remain in Faisalabad for the duration of the Champions Cup to observe all matches and evaluate player performances. He is reportedly preparing a list of potential players to be tested in future series.

Pakistan’s white-ball schedule is packed from November 2024 to April 2025, with at least 18 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and nine Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) set to take place.
