At Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, a large crowd of fans, families, and officials gathered to greet the young champions. With chants of “Pakistan Zindabad”, players were welcomed with garlands, national flags, and emotional embraces.
The electric atmosphere at the airport reflected the pride felt nationwide following the team’s historic performance.
A Landmark Achievement for Pakistan Volleyball
This victory marks Pakistan’s first title at the Asian U16 level, and the manner in which it was achieved—through grit and determination in a five-set final—made it even more special. The win has sparked renewed enthusiasm for volleyball in Pakistan and spotlighted the nation’s emerging talent in less-publicized sports.
Government Recognition and Financial Rewards
In recognition of their exceptional achievement, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has announced monetary rewards under its revised 2024 Cash Award Policy. According to PSB:
-
Each of the 12 players will receive Rs600,000
-
The team will be awarded a total of Rs7.2 million

The head coach will receive Rs1 million

Total prize money for the squad and coaching staff stands at Rs8.2 million
“These young athletes have brought immense pride to Pakistan,” said a PSB spokesperson. “They deserve not just celebration but recognition and support for their excellence.”
The PSB also confirmed that disbursement is already underway, with payments to be made directly to each athlete and coach on the official roster.
A Boost for Youth Sports Development
Pakistan’s victory has not only revived interest in volleyball but has also highlighted the impact of youth development programs in lesser-funded sports. With the right support, the team’s triumph could mark a turning point for volleyball in Pakistan.
With an Asian title now secured, the U16 squad has set its sights on future global competitions, hoping to make their mark on the world stage.
