Food Authority Shuts Down Fake Soft Drinks Factory

Fake Cold Drink Factory Busted in Quetta After Donkey Meat Scandal in Islamabad

QUETTA – In a major crackdown on unsafe food practices, the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has uncovered a counterfeit cold drink factory operating secretly on Kachi Baig Kumbarani Road, days after authorities found donkey meat being sold in Islamabad.

The factory was producing fake versions of popular beverage brands, including Sting, Sprite, Mountain Dew, Coca-Cola, and Fanta, posing serious risks to public health.

🏭 Thousands of Liters of Fake Beverages Seized

During the raid, BFA officials confiscated:

  • Thousands of liters of low-quality drinks

  • Empty branded bottles

  • Fake labels and packaging

  • Filling and sealing machines

According to officials, the counterfeit beverages were not only being distributed within Quetta but also sent to several nearby districts, raising serious concerns over widespread circulation.

⚖️ Legal Action and Public Warning

The BFA has sealed the illegal factory and launched legal proceedings against its owners.
Director-General Waqar Khurshid Alam emphasized the authority’s firm stance on public health violations, stating:

“We will take strict action against anyone found endangering the lives of citizens. These counterfeit drinks can cause serious health issues.”

He further urged the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious food or drink products being sold in their areas.

👀 What You Can Do

Authorities are calling on consumers to:

  • Check labels and packaging carefully

  • Avoid unverified brands or unusual-tasting drinks

  • Report suspicious activity to the BFA helpline

This operation comes shortly after the shocking revelation of donkey meat being sold in the federal capital, adding to growing concerns about food safety in Pakistan.
