Johnstown Little League Softball champs treated to big homecoming

Pennsylvania’s West Suburban 12U Softball Team Returns Home as World Champions

The usually familiar sounds of bats clanging and gloves popping at the Laurel Auto Sports Complex in Johnstown were replaced with something even more special — the cheers of hundreds of fans gathered to welcome home their champions.

Just a day earlier, the West Suburban 12U softball team made history in Greenville, N.C., winning the Little League Softball World Series and becoming only the second team from Pennsylvania to claim the title since Shippensburg achieved the feat in 1978.

Pitcher Reagan Bills, who played a key role in all five playoff victories, expressed her excitement about the warm homecoming.
“It’s awesome to see that my entire community was watching me,” Bills said. “Knowing they supported me the whole way through gives me such a great feeling.”

Tournament officials revealed that West Suburban’s merchandise was among the fastest-selling items at the event — second only to the host team. Fans traveled from across Pennsylvania to show their support, with many players meeting well-wishers they had never met before.

The victory not only marks a historic achievement for the team but also showcases the strong community spirit that cheered them to glory every step of the way.
