Pakistan Navy, Coast Guards Seize Liquor and Illegal Medicines in Balochistan
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards, working with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), have seized a quantity of liquor and illegal medicines during an intelligence-based operation in Pishukan, Balochistan.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday that the joint operation was conducted on the basis of actionable intelligence and disrupted an alleged attempt to smuggle a large quantity of prohibited items.
The seized goods have been handed over to the Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal proceedings, according to the military’s media wing.
ISPR said the operation demonstrated the role of coordination between relevant institutions in efforts to prevent smuggling through Pakistan’s coastal areas.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Navy and Coast Guards for the operation. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he said stronger coordination between institutions was important for tackling smuggling across the country.
The prime minister also commended the personnel involved in the operation for their preparedness and professional conduct.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi separately praised the participating agencies and said improved communication and coordination had contributed to the operation.
The Interior Ministry said Naqvi reaffirmed the government’s continued efforts against smuggling and illegal trade.
Previous Anti-Smuggling Operations
Earlier in April, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), in coordination with other agencies, seized foreign liquor reportedly valued at Rs200 million during an operation in the Arabian Sea.
In February, the Border Military Police reported recovering silver and narcotics worth more than Rs100 million during an anti-smuggling operation along an inter-provincial border. Authorities said the seizure included 41kg of silver, 13kg of crystal meth and 55kg of hashish.
In November 2025, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) also reported a major narcotics seizure in Balochistan involving an LPG container. Authorities said the drugs were allegedly being prepared for transportation towards the Gwadar-Pasni coastline for onward movement by sea.
The latest operation is part of continuing efforts by Pakistani authorities to disrupt the movement of contraband and illegal goods through coastal and land routes.
