Phil Salt’s Record-Breaking Hundred Powers England to Historic T20I Win Over South Africa

Manchester, September 13, 2025 — England opener Phil Salt produced a breathtaking performance at Emirates Old Trafford, smashing an unbeaten 141 runs off just 60 balls, as England crushed South Africa by 146 runs to level the T20I series.

Salt’s innings will go down as one of the finest in T20I history. He not only registered the highest individual T20I score by an England batter but also reached his hundred in just 39 balls, breaking Liam Livingstone’s previous fastest England century (44 balls).

England, riding on Salt’s fireworks, crossed the 300-run mark for the very first time in T20 internationals, finishing with a record-breaking total.

The innings included:

  • 15 fours and 8 sixes by Salt alone

  • A staggering 18 sixes overall from the England side

South Africa, in reply, were completely outclassed, falling short by 146 runs. The emphatic win ensures that the three-match series is now level at 1-1, setting up a thrilling decider.

Cricket fans can look forward to the series-deciding third T20I live on Sky Sports Cricket this Sunday, with coverage starting from 2 PM (first ball 2:30 PM).
