Pakistan Futsal Team’s Debut at Asian Cup Qualifiers Delayed

The Pakistan futsal team will have to wait a little longer to make its mark at the Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. According to leading sports journalist Faizan Lakhani, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that the Group D matches of the event have been postponed.

Pakistan, which was set to make its debut appearance in the competition, had been placed in Group D alongside hosts Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, and Iraq. The qualifiers were originally scheduled from September 20 to 24, 2025, but will now take place from October 18 to 22, 2025.

The decision came after the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) highlighted logistical and unforeseen challenges that made the original schedule difficult to follow. The AFC has since announced the revised dates and assured teams that updated fixtures and venues will be shared soon.

Pakistan had already begun its final preparations, with the squad announced and training underway. While the delay might have disrupted initial plans, it now provides the team with valuable extra time to refine tactics and boost performance ahead of their debut campaign against tough Asian opponents.

For organizers, the rescheduling also allows improvements in facilities, travel arrangements, and overall competition readiness for all participating squads.

With futsal continuing to grow in popularity across South Asia, Pakistani fans are eagerly waiting for the updated schedule. The national team’s first appearance at the continental stage will be seen as a historic moment for the sport in Pakistan, and supporters are hopeful of a strong showing when the team finally takes the field.
